Summary
Cambodia is a key transit country for large shipments of African ivory and rhinoceros horn, destined for consumer markets in Vietnam and China. This project will strengthen our understanding of trafficking networks, improve the abilities of law enforcement agencies to detect and investigate wildlife trafficking, and to collaborate with officials in key countries. We will also galvanize Cambodian journalists to advocate for stronger action by the authorities, leading to greater rates of convictions of wildlife traffickers.
Over 600 arrests and more than 500 convictions in wildlife crime since 2017, alongside a decline in ivory trafficking cases and an increase in elephant and rhino populations.
