New projects receive funding

We are thrilled to share that new IWT Challenge Fund projects have just been awarded funding under Round 11!
Chair of the IWT Challenge Fund Advisory Group, John Scanlon, shared the following:
“In this challenging time for wildlife conservation finance, I am delighted that the UK Government is continuing to fund a select number of high-value projects to prevent and combat illegal wildlife trade. This well-targeted investment will not only benefit wild animals and plants; it will also support the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.”
A full list of successful Round 11 IWT Challenge Fund projects will be added to the Projects section of the IWT Challenge Fund website in the coming weeks.
In 2024, the Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT) Challenge Fund celebrated 10 years of supporting innovative and scalable projects that reduce pressure on wildlife from illegal trade and, in doing so, reduce poverty in developing countries. This video was produced to celebrate this milestone and highlight the impact IWT Challenge Fund project activities have had across the globe.
Please note that there are no further updates on future funding rounds yet. More information on this will be shared later this year.
